Interesting note included in this timetable:

Local boarding traffic cannot be carried between Hilo and Honolulu. Western Airlines passengers may be carried on convenient connections via Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines for daily Western service to mainland cities.

Western Airlines - December, 1986

I never flew on Western Airlines. But, I have been a frequent visitor to the LAX terminal that Western was building. Western was taken over by Delta Air Lines before the terminal was completed.
