Northwest was clearly building up its Minneapolis-St. Paul hub in the years prior to this timetable with 21 non-stops in the October, 1978 timetable vs. 42 non-stops in this edition. Northwest would later buy Republic in October 1986 which eliminated competition at MSP and Northwest picked up two other hubs in Detroit and Memphis.
